Collection of forestry applications

Part of the FOREA project is dedicated to collecting and categorizing digital applications that are relevant to forestry. We have created a list to accomplish this. We are building on existing, publicly accessible lists, in particular those of waldklick.de and the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture. These already extensive lists serve as the basis for our expanded compilation.

We expanded our list not only through a targeted keyword search, but also through insights gained from dialog with stakeholders from the forestry industry. A key step in our process was to review the existing lists. We removed providers whose websites are no longer accessible.

A significant difference to the existing directories results from our renewed and expanded search. Of particular note is the inclusion of applications that focus on the forest and its inhabitants, but are of secondary importance for the direct management of the forest.

One aspect of our list is the consideration of the regional applicability of the software. Programs with a specific regional component have been marked accordingly to highlight their relevance for certain areas.

As of November 2023, our list includes over 240 different applications. Description are unfortunately currently only available in German.
